Sperm recovery tecniques

what does it consist of?

In patients with certain types of azoospermia, or who have previously undergone a vasectomy, it is not possible to find in the semen a sufficient volume of sperm to perform an assisted reproduction treatment. In these cases, sperm recovery techniques allow recovering a sperm sample directly from the testicles.

Techniques

Extraction of
epididimo
  • Pesa: Easier Technique consisting of a percutaneous aspiration of the liquid found in the epididymis
  • Mesa: This is a microsurgical aspiration of fluid from the epididymis.
Extraction of
testicle
  • Tesa: Percutaneous aspiration of testicular tissue.
  • Tese: Surgical extraction of testicular tissue from the testes.

Patients with obstructive azoospermia (one in which the male produces sperm, but they cannot go outside)
